CYO Members Concerto Competition

The Coquitlam Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition will be on June 13, 2025 between 4 – 8 pm at the Evergreen Cultural Centre Rehearsal Hall. This competition is only for the current members of the Coquitlam Youth Orchestra (CYO). The winner for each orchestra will play their concerto as a soloist with the CYO in the following season.

If a student enters the competition, the competition will serve as the student’s audition, so the student does not need to do both the audition and the competition. If you have already registered for an audition and would like to do the competition, please email sarah@cyobc.ca.

If you are entering the concerto competition please only enter with a concerto. If you are unsure if your piece qualifies as a concerto, please contact me for clarification. This will create a fairer playing field, and reduce confusion for the adjudicator and disappointment for students. The concerto must also be memorized.

Also, each competitor requires a piano accompanist. They must organize their own piano accompaniment to attend the competition with the student.

A student cannot enter the concerto competition if they won the competition the previous year; they must skip one year to enter again. Competitors must play a memorized movement of a concerto with piano accompaniment.
